One of the questions we are asked most often is: How long will my case take?
Sometimes it can be difficult to estimate but recently we have been able to finalise claims in less than three months. Take a couple of real case examples (the names have been changed for obvious reasons).
John came to see us on 13 February 2023 having been involved in a motor vehicle accident on 5 April 2022. He’d been with someone else and was getting nowhere. I said I thought it should be possible to finalise his case quickly but even I was surprised by how quickly. Less than 2 months later his case was settled on 5 April 2023 for $250,000 plus costs and, on 1 May 2023, he had his settlement money and, because of our new policy, he received the full $250,000. Yes, that’s right, NOTHING was deducted for legal costs because we settled on a plus costs basis and limited our charges to what the insurance company paid.
I really thought that result would be hard to beat but I went one better for Scott who had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on 3 December 2020. Like John, he too had been getting nowhere and so he came to us on 23 February 2023. Again I said I thought it might be possible to resolve his claim quickly. In fact, Scott’s case was settled on 23 March 2023 exactly 4 weeks after he first contacted us. In Scott’s case, the settlement was $225,000 plus costs and, once again, Scott received the full $225,000 because, as with John, we agreed to accept whatever the insurance company paid for costs.
Now I am not saying that we finish every case this quickly but these two cases prove that, provided you know what you are doing, it is possible to finalise cases very quickly and successfully.
